Description

Using the CPDV Bible, the readings have been rearranged and organized into 365 sections. Each section, referred to as a day, will include readings from two to three books of the Holy Bible. Although every book of the Bible can be found here, we do not call this a Bible since the structure has been altered. This book is in no way meant to replace your Bible, as the Bible is already perfect in every way. So why change something that’s already perfect It’s like walking a magnificent piece of land for the first time. You immediately appreciate its beauty, but you also recognize there is something much more profound at work than you can put your finger on. Sometimes all it takes is a different perspective. Perhaps it’s studying a topographical map of the area. Maybe you follow a local on a hike where not a word is spoken, but you follow their lead, and in doing so, the pond you passed earlier now makes sense as you cross over a meandering stream. Once that perspective is gained, a more profound appreciation and understanding is possible. The Old Testament can be confusing to many since it seems to jump around on the chronological timetable at times and even repeats some stories in different books. Here however, we do try to stay in chronological order as we travel through the 14 narrative books: Genesis, Exodus, Numbers, Joshua, Judges, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, Ezra, Nehemiah, 1 Maccabees, Luke, and Acts. Along with these we’ll be a reading from Psalm or Proverbs each day. There will also be a reading some days between the two previously mentioned from a supplemental book such as Job or Ezekiel. Three of the Gospels: John, Mark, and Matthew, will be introduced as we journey through the Old Testament to help us better connect and understand the fulfillment of the old covenant with the promise of the new. Although this has been broken into 365 days, the ultimate goal is not to read what amounts to be the entire Bible in a year. The goal is to begin, or continue, to include God’s Word in our daily lives. Keep this in mind if you miss a day or can’t quite get through an entire day’s readings.God bless you and may this bring you closer to your Father, to His Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
