This means working together, not just at the border, but “beyond the border” to enhance our security and accelerate the legitimate flow of people, goods and services. Leaders called for the development of a joint “Action Plan” to realize this goal.This Action Plan sets out joint priorities for achieving that vision within the four areas of cooperation identified in the Beyond the Border Declaration: addressing threats early; trade facilitation, economic growth and jobs; cross-border law enforcement; and critical infrastructure and cyber security. This book examines the shared vision for perimeter security and economic competitiveness between Canada and the United States, with a focus on the border infrastructure investment plan; emergency management assistance mechanisms; and U.S.-Canada border traffic disruption management.
